Internal Revenue Service

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is a U.S. government agency responsible for the administration and enforcement of the internal revenue laws, including the collection of taxes. Founded in 1862, it's mission is to "Provide America's taxpayers top quality service by helping them understand and meet their tax responsibilities and enforce the law with integrity and fairness to all." The IRS operates nationally with its headquarters in Washington D.C., and has additional large offices in various states, including California, Texas, and New York.
